The Club was formed in 1977 by a group of players who had been regular users of two public hire courts built by the City of Melville in 1975. The Council allowed the new club to use the courts. The former Hooker Rex sales office became the first clubhouse.

Two more courts were added in 1978 and lighting was added the following year. In 1981 the current clubhouse was built. Five more courts were built over the next three years, taking the total number of courts to nine.

Apart from regular resurfacing, there was a lull in further development until 1996 when two new courts were built with lighting on the northern side of the clubhouse.

Since then, lighting has been progressively added to the remaining unlit hard-courts.

The Club joined the Internet Age when it launched its web site during June 1997.

In October 2002, the club celebrated its 25th anniversary. The Melville Mayor as well as many former and present members attended the 'birthday' party.

The Club took a major change of direction in November 2005 with the replacement of three acrylic hardcourts with three Classic Clay™ courts. Installation of this synthetic clay surface was a first in the State of Western Australia. The surface offers the benefits of natural clay without the traditional disadvantage of regular watering.

In February 2006, the synthetic grass court will be resurfaced with an acrylic hard-court surface, while the two hard-courts north of the clubhouse will be resurfaced in April 2006.
